Boise Mosaic Works offers three different fun and affordable mosaic workshop options throughout the year:
- Introduction to Mosaic Arts
- Intermediate Outdoor Stepping Stone
- Advanced Mesh-Mounting/Architectural Mosaic
The Mosaic Workshop at Fort Boise was established by James Turner in 2004 and he has instructed thousands of mosaic students from across the globe. Most BMW workshops are held at this amazing Art Center (though on occasion, workshops are held elsewhere in the Treasure Valley and alerts are posted if the location has changed.) All enrollment for Fort Boise workshops is handled through the City of Boise Parks & Recreation and registration is easy. Go to:

​The City of Boise also sends out a fantastic course catalog and guide each season available at many locations across the Valley. All enrollment for workshops away from the Fort is handled by James at BMW.

2026 Schedule
The 2026 workshop schedule is set!
There will be TWO Introduction to Mosaic workshops at the
Fort Boise Art Center in 2026, WINTER and SPRING, one starting in early February and the other mid-March. Both will be six weeks and held on Mondays from 6:30pm-9pm.
There will be a FALL '26 Intermediate Stepping Stone workshop starting in mid-September. It too will be six weeks and held on Mondays from 6:30pm-9pm.
All workshops are capped at twelve students.

Individual Instruction
James also instructs a limited number of students individually in the art of mosaic. His teaching space for individual lessons is located at The Gem Center for the Arts OR
Fort Boise.
Rates are $45/hr. which includes personal instruction, glass, adhesive, substrate and tool use. The minimum number of hours for one-on-one lessons is two with a maximum of four per day. Call or email the BMW shop for availability.
