James Turner is a Montana native who began his mosaic career in Missoula, MT in 1996. Known for his precision glass shaping skills, unique palette blend of Bullseye, Oceanside, Wissmach and Kokomo glasses, and vibrant designs the work he produces is easily recognizable. He moved his first studio to Boise, ID in 1998, began teaching mosaic in 2002 and started the Mosaic Workshop at Fort Boise in 2004, instructing students of all ages from all over North America and the globe at large: Brazil, England, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, the Basque Country, China, Japan, Bangladesh, and Indonesia, just to name a few. James has been the Artist in Residence at Christine Donnell School for the Arts, Whitney, Longfellow and ANSER Charter schools in Boise, appeared on the HGTV television program "That's Clever!" and in numerous printed publications and media pertaining to the art of mosaic. He has also participated in some of the finest art shows and markets across the West in Jackson, WY, Sun Valley, ID, Big Sky, MT and elsewhere and is a proud member of the Capital City Public Market.

He lists Charles M. Russell, Shane MacGowan and Lemmy Kilmister as his influences.
